Alcoholism - How to get help for the Alcoholic.

Please find help with the solution you are most comfortable using.

A Medical Doctor

Chances are if there is a problem, you have already had a physician tell you to stop drinking. Go back and talk to the doctor again. You might need to be under a doctors care for mild withdrawal.

A Treatment Center

This information is very important! If the withdrawal symptoms are going to be severe, you will need to be where a medical professional can help you around the clock.

A Friend

If you have a friend that you know attends AA meetings, this would be a good starting place for you. That friend can give you very good advice and direct you to the right place. An AA person will keep anything you tell them confidential. (Or ask a good friend if THEY know anyone in AA.)

AA folks are always very happy to share their 'experience, strength and hope' about how they got sober AND get you to your first AA meeting.

A Clergyman

If you would feel more comfortable talking to a minister, please call your church and make an appointment with your pastor.

If you do not have a church, ask a friend if they will take you to meet their minister.
